Wind Energy for Heating
What it is:
Wind is a wonderful source of renewable energy, but not particularly well suited to warming a home. However, the electricity produced from wind energy can certainly be used to run the circulators or fans, which are important elements in a heating or cooling system so it at least deserves a mention here.
The key issues for harnessing wind power are: 1. the amount of wind available at your location, and 2. the placement to address visual and noise considerations. Resources for examining wind power can be found at www.awea.org. Many contractors involved in installing PV solar panels also have some expertise in wind power as well.
